About This Page

Approximately two years ago, I ordered the new book "The Seven Daughters of Eve: The Science that Reveals our Genetic Ancestry" by Prof. Bryan Sykes. I'm not much of a reader, but I was absolutely glued until I finished the entire book. The theories and results of his research have captured my imagination, and I have been intrigued to no end. I explained the theories to my mother, as well, and we shared our excitement.

For Christmas this last year (2002), she gave me the sampling kit for my own mtDNA test. I tested out as being from Clan Helena (and so would my mom). As I began to read more, I realized that there were many subgroups of each clan - various mutations that identified different branches of this enormous maternal family. I read through my material and results again and again, trying to find which mutations I had - only to find that there were none. My results were the same as the CRS (Cambridge Reference Sequence), to which all other mtDNA sequences are compared.

This page is intended for others who have tested out as Helena (mtDNA haplogroup H) with no mutations (CRS). It is my hope that through input from other Helenas that we might create something quite special and truly unique through this site.
