Alois was baptised in 1782 which was extracted as follows:

 

24th May 1782. Ullrichtshal 61. Aloysius Augustinus Marschner, Joannes Christophorus, Anna Elisabeth nata Marschnerin. (Alios Augustin, Marschner Johann Christoph, Anna Elisabeth geborene Marschnerin).

Alois resided all his life in area of Ullrichsthal and as we found out later, he was not illiterate for he could read and write. How he got involved in the glass business, that we will never be able to find out, the fact is, a lot of people at that period of time worked glass at home.

 

At the age of 20 he married a girl by the name of Theresia Lischka, their marriage was extracted as follows:

In the above you will see that the person responsible for recording this information had made a mistake, he wrote down Joh. Christ. Marschner aged 22, correctly, this should read, Alois Marschner, aged 22.

Interesting to note that Alois father Johann Christopher Marschner is still mentioned in the book as being missed, especially when he had died before 1811.

 

Then again between 1816 and 1826 five further children were born, Augustin, who was born in 1816 was to become our ancestor. All the births were extracted as follows:

After extracting these births we then looked to see if some of the children had died. We found the deaths of three children which were extracted as follows:

4 Jahre, 5 Tage. Verstorben an Steckfluß.

Ullrichtsthal Buch L67/40, page 95, 1784 - 1840

 

When my friend Josef was searching through the Mannschaftsregisters for Ullrichtsthal which are kept in the Archivs in Tetschen and Děčín he made a remarkable find concerning Alios, not only did he work as a Glass Cutter, but Josef  found out that between the years 1835 and 1848 he also worked as a Cattle Dealer. But more to this at a latter date.

 

Having found these deaths, we then looked for the death of Alios and his wife Theresia. Well we find a death, not that of Alios, but of his wife. Of all the deaths that we have found in the past, this particular one, was to be the most tragic death of all, for Theresia was to be found hanged in her house, she had committed suicide. The death was extracted as follows:

 

26th February 1837, House No.61. Theresia Marschner, Eheweib des Alois Marschner, Häusler in Ullr. 61, Kamn:(itzer) Herrschaft, 56 Jahr - (Todesursache) Stick und Schlagfluß infolge des Selbsterhenkens im Zustande der Sinnenverwirrung laut Todtenbeschau Zettel von Med. Dr…(Name unleserlich), zur nachtzeit beerdigt von Ig:(naz) Clar, Dechant.

(Zuschrift) Wurde in ihrem Wochhaus erhenkt gefunden, nach gepflogenen Erhebungen geistesabwesend erklärt, und in der Stille auf den Steinschönauer Gottesacker beerdigt.

She was burried on the 1st March.

Having found this death we then looked for Alois`s for we thought he might have died soon after, but instead of finding a death, we found the births of two children who were born illegitimately.

 

14th July 1838, baptised 14th July, Ullrichtsthal 61. Florian, Alois Marschner, Glasschneider aus Ullrichtsthal 61.. Mutter: Maria Anna Neumann ehel. Tochter des Anton Neumann, Tagelöhner in Hasel No.90 und der Mutter Theresia geb. Karsche aus Hasel 17, Kamnitzer Herrschaft.

 

Under the above text was this statement:

 

Dieses Kind ist mit H. Statthaltern-Bewilligung vom 18th Sep. 1859 nachträglich legitimiert worden.

This was to be seen under the second birth.

 

Dieses uneherlich geborne Kind Ignatz ist von der Hoh. kk. (kaiserlich-königlichen) Statthalterei vom 18 Sept. 1859 auf der Namen seines konstatirten Vaters Alois Marschner per Subsecatum matrim.(onium) = (durch nachfolgende Heirat) nachträglich legitimirt worden.

These two statement tells us that after their marriage the children took on the family name Marschner. With this information we then looked for Alois seconed marriage which was extracted as follows:

Alois Marschner, Wittwer, Glasschneider in Ullrichtsthal Nr.61, ehelicher Sohn des verstorbenen Christoph Marschner, Zwirner in Ullrichtshal Nr.61 und der verstorbenen Elisabeth geborenen Marschner (Geburtsort unwissend) aus Schönlinde, Herrschaft Kamnitz, 59 Jahre laut Taufbuch III.fol.350, getraut von Ig:(naz) Clar Dechant und Maria Anna Neumann, eheliche Tochter des Anton Neumann, Tagelöhner, Innmann in Hasel Nro.90 und der Theresia geborne Karsch aus Hasel Nro.17, Kam:(nitzer) Herrschaft, 28 Jahre laut Taufschein Matrik Kamnitz VI.fol.18

We searched for the birth of Alios`s second wife and found that she was born and baptised on the 22nd August 1812.

All in all, Alios had 15 children, 10 out of his first marriage and 5 out of his swcond marriage.

 

At the age of 66 Alois died, his death was extracted as follows:

Christoph Marschner, Zwirner, Taglöhner in Ullr.61, Besirksgericht Kamnitz, und der verstorbenen Anna Elisabeth geb. Marschner aus Schönlinde No…., Bezirksgericht und Hauptmannschaft Rumburg Kreis leipa, 66 Jahre.

Verstorben an Lungenlähmung.
