Corporal David Albert Ritchie was born on 11 Jan 1848, West Mahoning, Indiana County, PA.  He died on 21 May 1912 in Indiana County, PA and was buried in the Smicksburg Cemetery in Indiana County, PA.  He was married to Nannie C.--?—and they had three children, Edger, Cora, and Elverda.

 

He enlisted on 1 March 1865 for one year as a Corporal. From March until 17 May 1865 Company B was stationed at Beverly, West Virginia, and was then transferred to Cornwallis, West Virginia, via Clarksburg, West Virginia. From 21 May 1865 until June 1865 Company B was stationed at Cornwallis, West Virginia, to perform guard duty.  Mustered out with company 29 August 1865 at Clarksburg, West Virginia.

David's brother Ephriam Nelson Ritchey was also in the Civil War and served in the 78th Regiment, Company A.  Ephriam Ritchie is Pam Hill’s 3xgreat grandfather.
