Jacob Stuck
Jacob Stuck
was born in Pennsylvania
circa 1830. On December
27, 1853 he married Sarah Ann Miller, daughter of William and Mary
Miller in Sunbury, Northumberland County, PA at the Zion
Evangelical Lutheran
Church. Jacob and his wife Sarah had at least one
child together, James M. Stuck. He
enlisted in Company D, 74th PA Infantry on 4
March 1865 and mustered out on 29
August 1865 at Clarksburg,
WV. He resided in 1880 with another wife, Sophia,
in Mifflin, PA and their son Charles on the 1880 US
Federal Census. He was survived by both
Sarah A. and Sophia, and an unknown number of descendents.
Listed in
the household of 1880 were at least eight grandchildren, ranging in ages from
infant to 18 years of age. His
presumably first wife and he had at least one child together James M.
Stuck. James M Stuck would have three
daughters, granddaughters to the Civil War veteran. Two of these women would die spinsters and
the oldest Mary Ellen Stuck would pass down this photograph of Jacob Stuck,
Private, Company D, 74th PA Infantry.
