Oliver, Arthur - Born ca. 1835 in Pennsylvania; resident in 1870 of Berwick Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania; died ca. 1898.Married Margaret (b. ca. 1840) of Pennsylvania; children: William C. (b. ca. 1866) and Charles (b. ca. 1868).Recruited in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, by Captain Samuel Jason Pealer pursuant to orders from the War Department dated

26 January 1865; enrolled 4 March 1865 for one year as a Private with Captain Pealer's Company; mustered in 14 March 1865 by Captain Abraham Cottrell, 16th Regiment of the Veteran Reserve Corps, at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Captain Pealer's Company ordered 15 March 1865 (Special Orders No. 37, Extract 4) by Brigadier General Edward Winslow Hinks, Superintendent of Volunteer Reserve Service, Western Division of Pennsylvania, to join the 74th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Green Spring Run, West Virginia; proceeded on 17 March 1865 via Baltimore (Maryland), Harper's Ferry (West Virginia), Martinsburg (West Virginia), and Cumberland (Maryland), reporting to the regiment on 20 March 1865, where it was designated Company A (New) of the 74th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment; on 3 April 1865 Company A left Green Spring Run for Beverly, West Virginia, where it arrived on 7 April 1865; from May until June 1865 Company A was stationed at Fairmont, West Virginia, where it performed guard duty on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad; Private Oliver mustered out with company 29 August 1865 at Clarksburg, West Virginia.Filed invalid pension application number 487556 on 22 June 1888 in Pennsylvania (certificate number 485100).
