Jacob Fetter Sr was a Pvt with Carlisle Light Inf which marched
with Gen George Washington in Whiskey Rebellion, 11 Oct - 5 Dec 1794 (Hist
of Cumberland County, 1886, p. 102).
He was a Cabinetmaker, Carpenter, Farmer.
His father was was listed in Genealogical Notes of Hopper and
Other Families, Harry Shelmire Hopper, c 1894, which states that a Jacob
Fetter came on a ship with brothers Casper, George, and John.
His son, Jacob Fetter, Jr., was a cabinetmaker; as were several
of his grandsons, Albert Cauffman Fetter 1823-1891, David Fetter b. 1825, and
Henry Fetter 1828-1914, ; as was his great grandson, Harry Fetter 1874-1937.
His 2nd wife Margaret Clippinger b. 1781 after his death married
John Lee (Lay)
His 1st wife Catharine Smith Fetter is buried in center of of
the Old Graveyard in Carlisle with red gravestone (near tree near grave of
Revolutionary War heroine Mollie Pitcher) inscribed "Her body rests in the
grave but her immortal parts has taken its flight to the regions of bliss where
she shall receive a reward due to her Christian virtues as an affectionate wife
and a tender mother".

Henry Diven Fetter's granddaughter Marjorie Jennette Fetter born
(1912, Alinda, Perry Co, PA, died 2000 in France) married Sir Eugene Goossens
III, 1893-1962, who was a famous symphony conductor and composer who was from a
family associated with opera and music for generations. Brother Leon Goossens
was famous oboe player and sister Sidonie Goossens harpist with BBC Symphony
Orchestra. Father Eugene Goossens II was
violinist with Brussels Belgium Conservatory and Conductor of Carl Rosa
Company. Grandfather Eugene Goossens I (b. 1845 Bordeaux, France) moved to
London in 1873 and was a master silversmith and opera conductor.
