Starting as Executive Director the last week of March 2005, Michael Smith has a background in social services and a degree in psychology. He most recently was the teen director of the Sequim Boys & Girls Club and managed the maintenance of its Fir Street building. With two teenaged children himself, Smith has received praise for his professionalism and mentoring of the youth from staff and parents. His experience hasn’t been just with young people. He has been an insurance agent, stockbroker and banker. He has also worked as admissions director for a nursing home and for the first Port Angeles Alzheimer’s Memory Walk; he chaired a committee that raised money for research of the disease. Of his shift from managing money to his current interest, Michael says, “I’ve discovered I love working with people more than with numbers or things.” His goal is to spread the word about the center throughout the community highlighting the many opportunities available to members and guests that aren’t widely known in the Sequim area and increase the membership. |

She will be at the front desk and train and work closely with Diane Johnston, our Office Manager to provide continuity at the desk in the afternoons.
