We take great pleasure in announcing the selection of Eric Zangara as our first ever recipient of the Sequim Senior Center Scholarship in the amount of $500.00. This scholarship is made possible by the success of our annual benefit sale each August, and is intended to show that we care about Sequim’s High School Seniors. Our scholarship committee looked at all 100 notebooks, and chose four finalists based not only on GPA, but on personal and well-written essays, social and athletic activities, leadership and character, family financial need, motivation to go to college, intended college major, and the overall neatness and attractiveness of the completed notebooks. Thanks for your support as we reach out in our mission to “encourage involvement in, with, and for our community.” A special thank you to all who are helping with the Benefit Sale, which makes this scholarship possible.

Dear Mr. Michael M. Smith,

I would like to thank the Board of Directors, the Scholarship Committee, and the members of the Sequim Senior Center for the honor and pleasure I have in being the only candidate selected to receive your scholarship. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the University of Washington this fall. I plan to major in either business or science. I want to thank you for your generosity and care.

Sincerely,

Eric Zangara
