Born in Boise Idaho in 1966, Steve Taylor was active in the performing arts, photography and film making from the age of 10. Using a 8mm camera, young Taylor made many films in the place of book reports during middle school. By high school, Steve was making Super 8 films featured as fundraisers for the drama club. He also participated in the making of a national commercial for Frito-Lay (Tracy-Locke/BBDO), and local commercials for KIVI-TV (Office of Highway Safety), and The Courthouse (Drake Advertising). While attending Boise State University, Steve took numerous photography, videography, and theater classes. He won several awards during this time including both local (The Idaho Statesman) and international (Kodak Kinsa Awards) contests. He also wrote, directed and filmed four short films for a local nightclub using Super 8, 16mm, ¾ video and Beta-cam video. Steve also performed in many plays both at the university and local, Community Theater. Steve moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. During his three years in L.A., Steve was a weekly day player on the soap operas Santa Barbara (NBC Burbank) and Days of Our Lives (Sunset-Gower Studios). He produced a Star Trek production/dance number for the National Star Trek Convention and guest stared as "Spock." He was also involved in the production of several commercials for American Cigarettes in Japan and two game shows. Steve also continued working in the theater, and was a portrait photographer as well while living in Los Angeles.

Between Hollywood and graduate school, Steve continued to work on local commercials (Idaho Instant Lottery, The Golden Rule Group), toured with a repertory theater company (Idaho Theater for Youth), and acted in and directed numerous plays.

Steve Taylor currently has a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. While working as a psychotherapist in the Northwest, he and Joey Johnson formed Faust Films. They have produced numerous short films (using film and digital video) and are currently working on a feature length project set in Forks Washington.

Independent filmmaker Jon Jost has been a frequent consultant on many film and video projects Steve Taylor has worked on.
