Preposition Unit Test A

 

Part 1:  Write the prepositional phrase(s) for each sentence. (3 pts each answer)

 

  1. Bonita is the last person in line.
  2. Mary Pickford starred in silent films.
  3. The library has rooms for meetings.
  4. We donated a box of old toys to a charity.
  5. Grace handed the tickets to Ken and me.
  6. Put the bucket under the sink.
  7. Jets flew over the desert.
  8. Water spilled from the pitcher and onto the kitchen floor.
  9. Morris stood between us.
  10. The cat sat at the top of the stairs.

 

Part 2: For the underlined word, write whether it is an adverb or a preposition. (3 pts each answer)

 

  1. Don’t turn around.
  2. Fish swam beneath the ice.
  3. Children under twelve are admitted free.
  4. It is warm inside a sleeping bag.
  5. The fog rolled in.
  6. We turned the heat up.
  7. The mirror fell off the wall.
  8. Please turn the stereo down.
  9. The Alaskan sled dog slept outside.
  10. Mom spread ham salad on the bread.

 

Part 3:  Write the prepositional phrase, write the word it modifies.  Then write ADJ if the prepositional phrase is an adjective phrase or ADV if the prepositional phrase is an adverb phrase. (2 pts. each answer)
