Active and Passive Verb Forms sheet 4

 

Active:           Karin              will run      the projector.

 

Passive:     The projector     will be run      by Karin    (add form of “be”;  add “by”)

 

 

Active:       My father          built             the house.

 

Passive:       The house        was built      by my father.

 

 

Passive:    The house           was painted       (white)    by us.

 

Active:    We                       painted          the house       white.

 

 

Directions:  Rewrite the following sentences.  If the verb is active, make it passive; if it is passive, make it active.

 

 

1.     An exciting book was read by me last night.

 

2.     The American flag is loved by all of us.

 

3.     Much destruction was caused by the high winds.

 

4.     When did you finish your work?

 

5.     She rode a horse along the path.

 

6.     Has the pencil been sharpened by you?

 

7.     A new suit was bought for me by Dad.
