Active and Passive Verb Forms sheet 3

 

Active:           Karin              will run      the projector.

 

Passive:     The projector     will be run      by Karin    (add form of “be”;  add “by”)

 

 

Active:       My father          built             the house.

 

Passive:       The house        was built      by my father.

 

 

Passive:    The house           was painted       (white)    by us.

 

Active:    We                       painted          the house       white.

 

 

Directions:  Rewrite the following sentences.  If the verb is active, make it passive; if it is passive, make it active.

 

1.     Has a rainbow ever been seen by you?

 

2.     A short story was written by Louise.

 

3.     A little boy was bitten by the dog.

 

4.     We were given some good advice by Uncle Ted.

 

5.     They gave us two boxes of apples.

 

6.     A new bicycle was given to her.

 

7.     A prescription was written by the doctor.

 

8.     Many games were played by the children.

 

9.     Has Eddie been seen by you today?

 

10. A cheese sandwich was eaten by me for lunch.
