Simple Sentence Test A

 

Part 1: For each group of words, list “S” for sentence or “F” for fragment. (2 pts. Each)

Part 2: Rewrite each fragment, making it into a sentence. Words can be added, in front of, behind, or amongst the words given. (4 pts. Each)

  5. In the last inning of the game

 

Part 3: Write the subject and verb for each sentence. (2 pts. Each answer.)

  1. Most students attended the game last night.
  2. The moped by the curb belongs to Gene.
  3. The man with the mustache is my boss.
  4. After school yesterday, I went to my guitar teacher’s house.
  5. The icy rain made the street slippery.
  6. By the end of the movie, Tom’s sides ached from laughter.
  7. A pack of wild dogs roamed through the woods.
  8. The horse’s mane was golden.
  9. A boat with a red sail glided across the river.
  10. Without a thought for her own safety, Jill dashed after him.

 

Part 4: Write the helper verb; then write the main verb. (2 pts. Each answer.)

  1. We will visit Gettysburg on our trip.

Part 5: Write the subject and verb for each sentence. (2 pts. Each answer.)

  4. There have been several accidents at that intersection.
  5. Here comes the exciting part.
  6. Have you seen Sally recently?
