Speech
3 assignment:
Think
of a current events topic or issue, preferably one that generates strong
feelings and has more than one side to it.
First, do some research on the topic, in order to gain as much information
as possible and avoid being ill-informed.
The
goal of this speech is to persuade the audience to agree with the viewpoint offered
on the chosen issue. But for this
persuasive speech to be successful, the speaker must demonstrate that he or she
understands clearly the reasons why others may hold an opposing viewpoint. Therefore, excellent supporting details need
to be used to back up the argument. Just
as important, however, the argument must be presented in a manner that will not
alienate the audience.
An
outline of this speech might follow this pattern:
1.
Introduction:
1. lead
statement
2. explain
the lead
3. overview
of the topic
4. thesis
