September 7, 2007 Newsletter
Hi all PTC Members & tennis players,
The big news is that the Erickson Park courts (4th
& Race St, PA) are open for play, and are garnering rave reviews! Go try
them out, if you haven't yet. The courts are locked at dusk to discourage
vandalism or misuse, and are unlocked for play by 8am. If you should happen
to find the courts locked, you can contact the Recreation Dept at 417-4550 to
get them unlocked. .
The Peninsula Tennis Club has reserved the
Erickson Park courts for Community Tennis play on Tuesdays & Thursdays from
4:00 to 6:00 pm, and Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 9:30 am to
11:30 am. Community Tennis is free, recreational doubles play. There will be
a PTC member at the Community Tennis sessions, organizing play. Drop in &
join us for some fun tennis. If you have been wishing for people to play
with, this is your chance! Community Tennis also continues in Sequim on
Sundays at noon.
The Port Angeles Senior Games are September 14th
through 16th. Contact Roger Goettling for tennis information.
There is interest in having a Fall league, but we
need a volunteer to help organize it. The fall league is planned for
alternate Saturdays, starting in late September. Organizing includes sending
out a schedule each week, and taking scores. Let us know if you would be able
to help.
As we go into the fall season, continue to submit
worthy nominees for the Most Improved Player awards. Nominated for the men so
far are David Godfrey, Andy Chinn, Mallory Maloney, Roger Goettling, & John
Erskine. For the women, Justine Textor, Tricia Stratton, Allison Hastings &
Val Allard have been nominated. Send an email with nomination, or leave a
message on the club phone at 460-2588.
Our monthly business meeting will NOT be held on
the 3rd Monday of this month, and may be rescheduled in the future, due to a
scheduling conflict of your President.
The PTC section of Highway 101 between PA and
Sequim is looking a little trashy, so it's time for another cleanup. We'd like
to get a new crew out to pick up this time. Due to your President being out
of town for the last pick-up, it's now my turn to participate! I'm working
weekends this fall, so I need to do the pickup during the week. If you could
help with a litter pickup on a weekday in September, please contact me at
peninsulatennisclub@olypen.com,
or 452-9058.
Get out there and enjoy the end of summer!
