Peninsula Tennis Club  Business Meeting  5-21-07 

Present: Laurel Cripe, Bob Ritchie, Dave Shargel, Rich Riski, Carl Strunk 

Laurel opened the meeting.

            A summer league will start on Thursday evenings in mid June.

            Gift certificates will probably be given out as prizes for winners of the Sequim tournament. There was discussion of giving t shirts to applicants to the Saundra Kent tournament as is done at fun runs and other sporting events.

            Erickson Park update.

Lakeside is looking into how to reduce costs of the court rebuilding project. Green Crow might donate gravel to the project but such donation can’t be done until after the contract is awarded or it will mess up the contracting process. Laurel has contacted the USTA to see if they could donate additional funds to the project. Some complications of continuing the project until 2008 would be the need to contact those who donated fund to see if they would be willing to leave their donations in the pot. The project is $63,000 short of full funding at this time. Bob suggested looking into getting hotel funds which weren’t used for the proposed indoor courts. He and Laurel will talk to those involved.

            Laurel proposed using the $2631 left in the clubs Erickson Court funds plus enough of other club money to get a total of $5000 and take this donation to the city council and push for them to come up with the remaining funds necessary to complete the project. It was suggested by other committee members that we increase our new donation to the same percentage as our original percentage of the project’s proposed cost. That would be a little less than $6500. It was motioned and approved that we take the $2631 left in our Erickson Park account plus additional club funds for a total of $6500 to be offered to the Port Angeles City council when asking them to come up with funding to complete the Erickson court project.
