Peninsula Tennis Club
Business Meeting
11-20-06

The meeting was opened with the treasurer’s report. Checking account  $5207. Money Market  $4322.67

The tennis club dinner is all set to go with no further preparation needed. 20 items have been lined up for the auction and so far 23 people have paid for their dinners.

Erickson field tennis courts.  We have received official notice from the USTA that their share of funding for the court rehab has been approved. Lakeside is donating $5000.worth of asphalt to the project. Laurel and others are still checking with various local companies to see if they would be willing to be commercial sponsors of the project. Christie is researching the cost of installing lights at the Erickson courts. Laurel suggested that we run a large notice in the paper recognizing donors at the end of the fund raising.

Jefferson county tennis club has an active tennis exchange group which only allows paid members to participate. We have a list of active unpaid members and it was suggested that this topic be brought up at the Dec. 7 dinner and meeting. It was also motioned and approved by the board that we change the membership billing cycle to January through December.

The idea of using the purchase of credit cards as a fund raising scheme was brought to the board’s attention again and will not be followed through on at this time.

Indoor courts.  $150,000 has been donated towards the construction of indoor courts in partnership with the YMCA. There will also be $300,000 available from hotel motel tax. People from Green Crow are looking into the costs of such a building.

Laurel discussed the possible construction of an indoor court near the airport by Craig Heckman.

Rick Riski  is interested in the club having an Australian Open event similar to last years get together at the Crab House. He will look into the availability during this year’s event.

Shane Park will be finished in the spring.
