Business Meeting minutes May 15, 2006 The PTC holds monthly business meetings the third Monday of every month at 6:30 pm at the Port Angeles Library.
Peninsula Tennis Club Business Meeting 5-15-06 Laurel opened the meeting with seven people attending. A thank you letter has been written up to give to those pledging money towards the repair of the Erickson tennis courts. So far twelve people have donated $2700. There was discussion as to weather to contact club members to explain the proposed project and determine if members are interested in making a tax deductible donation to this cause. Pledges need to be in by July. The tennis club has $5762 in savings, $4779 in a CD and $702 in checking. There is no new information on covered courts. The planned meeting to discuss covered courts was postponed. Attendees discussed possible needs of Sequim tennis players and the possible location of future courts between Sequim and Port Angeles or near Deer Park Road. There was also discussion of the construction of covered courts at the golf course. We also talked about the possible need of showing support for the proposed courts in Carrie Blake Park in Sequim. Julian’s doubles tournament is June 24th and the Sequim tennis tournament in July is still going ahead with no changes at this time. Comments on the World Team Tennis format for the current league are positive. Rosemary suggested making the club chairs and canopy available for rent or donation for non club functions. She will try and locate those items as well as the water jugs and writing board. There was discussion again about replacing the wind screens on the high school tennis courts. Scott Broden is the contact person for such equipment. The club is reluctant to put money into items at these courts as there has been a lot of vandalism. Bill will contact Scott and also ask him about replacing damaged nets. Since girls high school tennis is now over, the Tuesday and Thursday afternoon tennis will move to the high school courts from the Erickson courts. Carl Strunk Secretary
