Business Meeting

Laurel opened the meeting.

            Erickson Park court project.

The fence is down and a tree has been removed. Full construction is supposed to start tomorrow July 17. Laurel claimed the old net posts and nets for possible future use. The city has put up a sign showing who is paying for the project. The club won’t be charged for the banner which was shredded in the wind and a smaller replacement banner will be $130. Laurel is concerned that the short retaining wall along the south edge of the courts might be a tripping hazard after the level of the courts is raised. The fence along that edge may have to be moved forward to eliminate that problem. Dave brought up the possibility of vandalism to the courts after construction. Possible deterrents are security cameras, locking up the courts after hours as is done to the skate board park, and asking neighbors to report anything seen. A storage shed is available for $1000 from Home Depot. Laurel will talk to Tennis Warehouse about covering the cost.

Bob is gearing up for the Saundra Kent tournament. Prizes will be mostly cans of tennis balls. The application is on the club internet site and has also been sent out to area high school kids. He is also planning on something different from the usual grilled hot dogs and hamburgers this year.

Laurel will look into the process for getting 501 3C status for the club.

The nets at the college are in poor condition. Bob will talk to Rich Riski about the college repairing or replacing them. The net recently replace in Sequim was $142.

Treasurers report. You can fill this in Laurel!!
