Business Meeting - July 17 2006 Peninsula Tennis Club Laurel opened the meeting with the treasurer’s report. In savings we have $4290. In checking the club has $1600. The Sequim tournament brought in $237. Gift certificates were given out as prizes for the tournament. The street banner for the Sandra Kent tournament is up across Front st. in Port Angeles for a cost of $60. Entry forms have been distributed and there have been news releases in the paper with more to come. It was also listed in the USTA website. Bob is looking to borrow a lap top computer for the tournament. There is a question about the availability of the college courts for use during the tournament. It doesn’t look likely due to the construction in progress. Anyone available to help during the tournament please contact Bob Ritchie. Laurel stated that several people have expressed an interest in club shirts and hats. The problem with having such items on hand is a lot of money can get tied up in having a variety of sizes on hand. There may be a questionnaire on hand at the tournament to get members thoughts on this topic. Erickson update. Sept. 15th is the final date for our proposal to be sent in to the USTA. Funds must be secured for the courts by that time which is not the case at this time. The Northwest section of the USTA has some funds available. Laurel will send in an application tomorrow. Our $20,000 must be in hand before the city will put in their money. Indoor court update. August 15th is the next city meeting to discuss the swimming pool, tennis court issue. Bob has heard negative comments about our attempt to add the tennis, soccer court addition at this late stage of the swimming pool project. The World Team Tennis trip to Kitsap will be on August 20.
