Business Meeting April 16, 2007 Peninsula Tennis Club Business Meeting 4-16-07 Laurel opened the meeting The first topic of discussion was the scholarship awards and how things went at that meeting. I stated that none of the members on the committee were happy about the categories used to score candidates or points given in each category. The committee didn’t think we should change things up at the date of our meeting but should look at the selection process before next year’s selection. Laurel suggested getting the committee members together again along with the tennis clubs officers to look at the process again before making final selection for this year. A meeting will be set up soon to do that. The club litter pick up planned for April 21 was next discussed. Dave Shargel will be in charge of this project and will get waivers signed and discuss safety issues and state requirements as to the process to be followed. Eleven volunteers have signed up so far. Laurel didn’t have the exact figures with her so gave an estimated treasurers report. Checking $5200, Checking $5000, $5000 bond. Erickson park update. The project package is in for review and could be out on the street next week. Shane Park resurfacing project. This project has been started but is held up by the bad weather. We are hoping to have it completed in time for tennis classes which start May 1. Indoor court update. The YMCA and Green Crow project would be constructed in summer 2008 at earliest, and Laurels proposed courts are still in the planning phase. The Sequim doubles mixer is scheduled for June 24 and will be run by Julien again. It was suggested that we charge $10 for members and $15 for non members this year. It was also suggested that we increase the fee for playing in the Saundra Kent tournament this year. Bob asked for comments on the lap top computer he was looking into buying for the club. It looks like it is adequate for the clubs needs. Carl Strunk Secretary.
