 Charles joined the 3rd Raider Battalion in New Caledonia on Aug 3, 1943, and went on to fill his duties to the Raiders and to the Corps.

He participated in the operations on Bouganville, Emirau, Guam and Okinawa.   At the end of the war he was transported back to Mare Island, California were he was Discharged.

Charles was born in Newman California on Sept. 21, 1925.  He Married June Lorraine Younker on June 22, 1946 after his return from service with the Marines in the South Pacific.

Charles and June have two sons, Charles Jr. and Bruce.  He attended college at Utah State University and went on to become a biologist with the California Fish and Game.

He transferred to Alaska where he spent many years working for the Fish and Game and did conservable work as the Director of the International Affairs under the Gov. of Alaska. His credentials also show service in the Great Lakes, Alaska fur commission and member of National Parks advisory board and numerous other positions held over the years prior to retirement.
