SM-8A " Detroiter"

It was manufactured in Wayne, Michigan, in 1930.  Originally priced at
$5775, it was designed as a business-man's airplane seating 4 or 5 people
and cruising at 100 mph.  Extra equipment available included an engine
speed-ring cowling and streamlined wheel fairings which we chose to add
during the restoration.  The airplane holds 60 gal of fuel in two wing
tanks and burns 14 gal an hour.  The restoration was completed in 1998.
N418M was the ninth SM-8A completed and was rolled out January 30, 1930.
it spent most of it's life as a working airplane until being wrecked in
the early 50's.
