Grief Support Programs
Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County provides services to

terminally ill patients and their families and recognizes the need

for providing gentle, supportive care to those who have suffered

a loss. The Grief Support Program offered by Hospice includes:

Structured support group meetings

Individual counseling

Various follow-up activities (group sack lunches, drop-in group

meetings, etc.)

Bereaved parents support group

Grief, whether it is for the death of a spouse, a child , a parent, a sibling, or a beloved friend is an intensely personal

thing. Often it is accompanied by a wide range of emotions: anger, guilt, despair or loneliness. Families and friends can

help immeasurably but sometimes they are at a loss to know how to treat or how to talk to a grieving person. Finding a

gentle, caring and non-judgemental support group can often be the beginning of the "healing journey".
The Healing Journey
The Grief Support Program is available several times a year in both Port Angeles and Sequim. The two hour sessions

are held weekly for five weeks. A series of video tapes are viewed followed by group discussion with gentleness and

voluntary sharing emphasized. Hospice volunteers who have experienced losses themselves and have attended the

series are available in person or on the phone to give continued support. This program is offered through Volunteer

Hospice of Clallam County at no charge. Current schedule is shown on Calendar of Events.
