VILLAGE PLACE, PORT ANGELES Heading

THIS PAST WEEK has seen some delightful changes taking place at Carolyn Diewold’s new home: All the floors have been laid, be it tile or laminate, all the doors, both hinged and bi-fold, have been hung, all the bathroom exhaust fans are installed and working, the kitchen cabinets are all in place and looking fantastic, radiant manifold has been hooked up and the water heater safety straps have been mounted, whilst outside, the fence on the south side has been finished with a very professional look to it. Very nice work, guys!

With all the work that has been accomplished this past week by our volunteers, perhaps the biggest thanks should be extended to Jay Ketchum who, along with his trucks and crane, brought all those huge ecology concrete blocks to the site and set them all in place for us - free of charge!

Setting those 1-½ ton cement ecology blocks into place was handled by Jay Ketchum,
seen in the first of these photos, along with the able assistance of a couple of volunteers to guide them into position.

Despite the beautiful sun outside, most of the volunteers were indoors mounting kitchen cabinets (top row), hanging doors, or fixing the safety straps around the two water heaters (one for the radiant heating, the other for household hot water).

Despite the fact that quite a few new members have been joining in this very rewarding enterprise of helping out our less fortunate neighbors, we can always use additional help. The larger the volunteer base, the more we can accomplish in a shorter time.

The Almazon family on the dedication day of their new home in Forks

Catholic Youth Helps in Forks

42 teens and adult chaperones from 4 parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle traveled to Forks during the week of July 6-11th. The program named “One Week” is a youth service learning experience where they volunteer their service at various agencies around the area during the day and then return to St. Anne’s in the evening to connect their experience of service to their faith. St. John’s in Seattle is working at the Habitat for Humanity site, Forks Abuse, and Concerned Citizens; St. Nuberts in Langley served on the Quileute Reservation helping the Quileute Housing Authority; Our Lady of the Sea in Bremerton is helping out at The Caring Place; Holy Family in Auburn is working at Forks Disaster Relief Clothing Bank. All of them are working at the Quileute Valley Aquatic Center setting up for the garage sale to raise money for the upcoming insurance.
