Tips & Tricks in Departmentals
  1. NEW IN 4.8 - Pull in labs via LIS Test View Group. Be sure the user has access to a LIS Test View Group. You may need to make special ones, like for the dietitian, pharmacist, specialist, etc. Then, in the body of the report, press F4 <Get>, L, space, then do a lookup into the LIS Test View Group. After you select the correct group, it pulls in the date and time of the test and the result.
  2. Add a fax recipient to the Additional Copies to section
    · Place your cursor in field of Additional Copies to section
    · Type in R, space, F9 and you will be able to choose a fax recipient.
  3. When filing a report that has a fax recipient in the Additional Copies to section the fax transmission screen will display with the fax recipient in the recipient section of the fax transmission screen.
  4. Enter Reports on Purged patients
    · Place your cursor at the PATIENT prompt on the Enter/Edit Report screen
    · Enter a U <space> then the patients name.
    · Select via the MPI
    · This will bring you into a lookup of the patients visits.
    · Choose an account/visit to enter the report on.
  5. Pulling up purged patients in Process Reports
    · Enter "U" space and last name,first.
    · Selects via the MPI.
    · Once you select your patient from the MPI, just press enter past the visits screen to select all the reports on that patient.
    · Press enter after you get the message that says No account number selected.
    · A list of all reports in that department will appear.
  6. Enter temporary patients
    In the ENTER REPORTS routine, type t, followed by space and type the name. Once the patient is registered, use the EP function from Process Reports to change to the correct name and account.
  7. Attributes in Departmental Reports
    Use F1 and F2 to block the characters you want to set attributes on. The Block Functions screen appears. Right arrow on Change Attributes and select the attribute you desire. To apply a different attribute, you must change it back to normal. You can apply bold and italics together. There are some dts's out there on the shading and boxes, be sure you have them for those to work.
  8. Pull in file from your PC
    In the body of the report, press F4<GET> key, p, space, enter or F9. You can then specify the location of the file you want to pull in. File had to be a .txt file.
  9. Pull from another report
    In the body of the report, press F4<GET> key, r, space, followed by the report number or at least the date to get you closer in the lookup. Then block the section you want using F1 and F2, select R to replace buffer and then press F12.
  10. Pull in a data field into your report
    · Press F4 <GET>
    · Press f
    · Press space
    · Press F9 for a lookup of data fields.
    Be sure your data fields have been initialized by meditech, if nothing in lookup, call them.
  11. Pull in the answer to a query into your report
    · Press F4 <GET>
    · Press q
    · Press space
    · Press F9 for a lookup of data fields. (or enter first 3 letters of the query to get closer)
  12. Pull in group response into your report
    · Press F4 <GET>
    · Press g
    · Press space
    · Press F9 for a lookup of group responses. (or enter first 3 letters to get closer)
  • In canned text you can use these same F4 functions to pull these same components into canned text in the canned text dictionary.
