![]() Rockhounding looking for the unkown! Oxidized small formations on top of some granite -- or |
Bullseye Agate -- Rhyolite, Chert, Agate and some small druzzi quartz and has a little bit of a kaolin look to it. Origin being Goldfield Nevada. Larger picture Makes great jewelry |
Soft white bumpy aggregations. Scratches with Obsidian (glass) but not with a copper penny. Mohs 5? Larger picture Closeup of a 3 # rock. My first guess was Botryoidal Prehnite despite the bleached out color Another Prehnite link That said, it handles differently - more chahky and white dust will rub off when rubbed. |
![]() Whimsey & Humor An orphan I rescued on a stranded beach. Which WA. beach? ![]() His mother wants to know. |
Known locally as Turtle Rock, it is a combination of mudstone and harder feldspar-like nodules. What I would like to know is its real name as a mineral speciman. Found only on a few beaches in the Jaun de Fuca straits. |
A
Riverine Garden |
I am a local retired Nurseryman who loves Plants, Bonsai, Suiseki, rock collecting, lapidary and woodworking. This site will strive to provide interesting links to rock hounding and articles that involve the Olympic Peninsula of WA. State. There will be articles on garden or rock humor as well as on gardening and some of the plants I grow and sell.
