 Marshall's Review of the event
1st event was the tire flip frame walk medley. I have always been good at medleys and this was no different the tire flip was easy and the frame was a pretty easy pick and I finished with no drops in a relatively fast time, somewhere around 30 seconds. Brian and Terry both beat me on this but taking 3rd in the first event gave me some confidence.

Next up was the viking press which I was pretty confident about because I have been working my press a lot lately, but I put up a less than stellar performance with only 4 reps....goes to show that I NEED to invest in an actual viking press and stop relying on carry over from axle and log.

3rd event was yoke...I wanted to better my time from last year and going against Derek was great motivation...I ended up around the 17 second mark which put me mid pack.

At this point I was on the cusp of making the cut, and I knew I needed a pretty good time on the hold to make it. I held the car for about 26 seconds which put me bottom of the pack.....which sucks because I have been working the crap out of my grip.

So I didn't make the cut and had to watch the rest from afar. Which of course sucks because one of the last events is my "bread and butter" event! What are ya gonna do? I was disappointed in myself for not at least making the cut, but I was happy because I did PR all the events and finished ahead of some amazing strongmen whom I respect greatly. So I will work on my weaknesses and hopefully qualify again at the fit expo and continue getting better and better.

On a side note, I was extremely happy that Derek won.....this is great for our country and our sport not to mention he's a stand up guy. Also Terry Hollands rarely gets the credit he deserves for being the monster that he is...this guy dominated the whole show...if not for a few very small mistakes he would've been sitting in 1st place. Also a big thanks to Jesper and Colin Bryce and Kevin Nee and (the other announcer guy) who made strongman.tv possible, I really do believe this will take our sport to a whole new level! They are the ones who make all this run smoothly and give the fans what they want. (of course with some help from their crew, etc). Also keep an eye out for Brian Shaw - I predict big things from him in the near future. I really hope all the fans enjoyed it and hopefully I'll be back to give it a go in coming years.

Josh and Dave- Training started today for the Stone Challenge, remember Josh, your life is on the line here!
